Ehlanzeni District Municipality is situated in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa and famously known for its magnificent scenery and wildlife.  It comprises of five local municipalities namely; Nkomazi, Thaba Chweu, Mbombela, Umjindi and Bushbuckridge.

With the exception of Mbombela, Ehlanzeni District Municipality can be characterised as a semi-rural and rural area, which means that a lot of development is needed to ensure that our local communities can have access to the basic necessities without moving to urban areas.

Hence the move by the Municipality to invest in the development of Rural Central Business Districts .All central business districts, no matter what size, within the developed as well as developing world, evolved from the collective need of people to participate in economic and social activities central and accessible to them. The market place today as represented by different levels and systems of CBD’s remains central to the community and primarily provides the place where merchants provide their goods, where people buy commodities essential for satisfying their needs, where people seek entertainment, where authorities have their offices and provide a service to the community, where financial institutions deal and where people live due to their close association with the place.

Centrality and accessibility are the major establishment criteria for central business districts to succeed. Nkomazi Local Municipality offers the investor the ideal location to establish such rural CBD’s and with land readily available.
